I don't rate him out wide at all. I was just quickly piecing together a midfield from our current squad + Payet.

Other options are Jarvis or Amalfitano if playing that formation.

He was very high on my Summer 2013 list :).

Not seen him

But that fee and the wages reported for a 28 year old scare me a little bit. Konoployanka would be better option IMO.

Re: Dimitri Payet
But if you haven't seen him how do you know the wages and fee are scary? You really do come out with some odd things mate.

I've never seen him but if he does sign I hope he's better than Paulo Di Canio.

Shock your sitting there with your rod dangling

We are a mid table club at the moment, £10 million fee and 60k a week on someone that age is worrying if it doesnt work out

Re: Dimitri Payet
Its only worrying if its coming out of your pocket

Re: Dimitri Payet
Rossal

What an odd comeback.

Onto the second part of your post though, ANYONE not working out is a worry, but a 28 year old international in the prime of his career on 60k a week is hardly worrying. Spending 17m and 90k per week on a forward with a questionable injury record might be worrying though.

Re: Dimitri Payet
Konoplyanka still linked or not? Isn't he pretty cheap on a clause or something? Only 25 too.

Good point. It's worth remembering that even with the supremely gifted Berkovic, we really struggled to accomodate him in the side at times.

===========================
No we didn't. He played all the time, although he was always subbed in the second half and one of the reasons why Lampard started getting grief. As soon as Eyal went off the fans jeered it.

He left for about £5million 2 seasons after joining for about 1.5 so clearly impresses a lot more than your memory tells you.

Rossal 5:19 Thu Jun 18
Re: Dimitri Payet
Lets hope he tears up the league and you are right then. My point is Konoployanka seems to be similar level, similar wages but should things go sour would have a higher resale value.

Bit confused about the striker reference

Trevor B 5:20 Thu Jun 18
Re: Dimitri Payet
Rossal

So you have seen Konoplyanka play then? How do you know he is a similar level to Payet if you haven't seen Payet???

As I said mate, you don't half come out with some bollocks.

Re: Dimitri Payet
I have no idea whether or not, this player is any good.

I do know however, that some footballers are being bought and sold for between 60 & 80 million...

So relatively speaking, 12 Million isn't that bad is it?

If we are going to be moving on to the 'next level', then we are going to have to pay at the very least 10 million..Unless that is, you go down the Arsenal route, and start poaching all the top youngsters from around the globe..

whufcroe 5:21 Thu Jun 18
Re: Dimitri Payet
"We are a mid table club at the moment,"

and you improve on that by??

Buying better players

You mention the Konoplyanka who would work out to be a difficult deal because of the massive signing on fee he's demanding.

Fivetide 5:21 Thu Jun 18
Re: Dimitri Payet
Any player we invest say, a record club fee on, could spend most of their West ham career in the treatment room. Even someone like Cresswell who never misses a game, could be bought for £15 million and break their leg in four places falling downstairs the next day.

I'm assuming diligence and insurance is all you can do unless you want to stay out of the transfer market entirely.
